Day 6 to day 11

We left Ulaan Bataar after a parade on the main square and are now back with some news after 4 days of rallying with 2 or 3 test sections (against the clock) each day. Today we crossed the Mongolian / Russian border. Mongolia was very intense nearly entirely on gravel tracks and not on tarmac. A breathtaking scenery, camping at night and no Cell/GSM connection. With no petrol stations in the desert we refuelled straight from a truck. Our Karmann Ghia has done very well and we have not needed to make any repairs sofar. Some competitors have had to do some serious welding and repairing at night with their cars suffering from the constant pounding of the tough tracks with huge potholes.
Our bivouac site in the Altai Region is surounded by huge snow capped mountains.
Siberia here we come, another stage of the rally is starting. We hope we will be able to send you some pictures of the Karmann Ghia in action soon.
