Day 13 Kanchanaburi to Phetchabun

The day started with a drive through the central plain of Thailand with endless paddy fields where the 3500 varieties of rice are grown. En route we visited the unusual Wat Tham Khao Wong temple. Many schoolchildren in the villages were cheering us on.
The first test was regularity through a pineapple field, on gravel, with three different speeds on a twisty track. The second test was a 8km speed trial on gravel. On one corner we got of the track (in a ditch surrounded by plants) and had to reverse back onto the track with total time still ok.
On the technical front:
We have been driving without a temperature gauge for seven days. Because we saw what a good job our big oil cooler is doing, we are not very worried and will fit a new one on our "rest day" in Chang Mai.
Today our speedometer (compteur, Tacho) quit. We will be using our Garmin for speed and see if replacing the cable in Chiang Mai will do the trick.
