Peking to Paris 2016 in a 1966 VW Karmann Ghia Patrick & Christine Sommer Car 65

Many of you have followed us on the 2015 "Road to Mandalay" and on the 2012 “London to Cape Town” rallies. On June 12 we will start to drive 14 000 km on the "Peking to Paris" rally. The race will take us through Mongolia & Siberia driving through 11 countries until we reach Place Vendôme in Paris on July 17. We will try to post a short comment on our blog on most days with the exception of Mongolia where we will have no internet access.

Day 15 Novosibirsk to Omsk

We left Novosibirsk on a sunny morning and were cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

We drove a nearly 700 km partly through beautiful birchwoods.

No competition today; the test sections (against the clock) were cancelled because of too heavy rain and the track therefor being inpracticable.

The single lane extremely busy road kept us very busy until we reached Omsk.

Omsk was the center of the armourement industry of the Soviet Union, visitors and foreigners used to be banned from this city.

Tomorrow will be another 700km day.
