Day 19 Perm to Kazan

The day started with three test sections on very muddy tracks through a wood.
Our Karmann Ghia does not like driving fast through slippery mud. The car is very light in front and has a lot of ground clearance which is good for rough tracks but pushes the center of gravity higher. As we drove swiftly from a dry patch into deep mud the car spun (tête à queue) and we lost a lot of time.
As a result we took the next two test sections easy and have dropped back one place in the result list.
The rally crossed into the Tatarstan region were the landscape differs from the endless birchwood forests of Siberia, much more hilly and lush greenfields.
The long 625 km day ended with a test on the Kazan race track which Christine didn't enjoy after the morning spin...
Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan where we will have a rest day.
