Peking to Paris 2016 in a 1966 VW Karmann Ghia Patrick & Christine Sommer Car 65

Many of you have followed us on the 2015 "Road to Mandalay" and on the 2012 “London to Cape Town” rallies. On June 12 we will start to drive 14 000 km on the "Peking to Paris" rally. The race will take us through Mongolia & Siberia driving through 11 countries until we reach Place Vendôme in Paris on July 17. We will try to post a short comment on our blog on most days with the exception of Mongolia where we will have no internet access.

Day 18 Yekatarinburg to Perm

Today we drove 485km passing Asian/European geographic border. The monument below symbolizes the border.

In the town of Chusovoy we reached a stadium with a very enthusiastic crowd greeting the rally. We drove the Karmann Ghia on the podium where every team and car were presented to the onlookers.

In Perm we were greeted at our hotel by the local cheer leader team.

Competition resumes tomorrow.

Christine was welcomed in the hotel by a charming russian robot.

We can't get over the Brexit vote....

Who would think Christine just spent tough days driving? Gorgeous as usual!

Won't get through Parliament though (75% opposition), you can relax a bit...
