Peking to Paris 2016 in a 1966 VW Karmann Ghia Patrick & Christine Sommer Car 65

Many of you have followed us on the 2015 "Road to Mandalay" and on the 2012 “London to Cape Town” rallies. On June 12 we will start to drive 14 000 km on the "Peking to Paris" rally. The race will take us through Mongolia & Siberia driving through 11 countries until we reach Place Vendôme in Paris on July 17. We will try to post a short comment on our blog on most days with the exception of Mongolia where we will have no internet access.

Day 20 Rest day Kazan

Today we visited Volkswagen in Kazan. We would like to very warmly thank the Volkswagen team for their expert help. Having a classic air cooled Volkswagen in the workshop was very exciting for everybody and triggered conversations on how it all began with the Volkswagen Beetle.

Kazan is a very beautiful city with a Kremlin.

Below you see the Karmann Ghia in yesterday's test on the Kazan race track, the Kazan Volkswagen team and kind of a Jeff Koons version of our car.
