We crossed into Myanmar which is like putting the clock back 40 years rather than the oficial 30 minutes. We drove over some bumpy roads to Mawlamynine the capital of the Mon State. The setting here is unique and very inspiring. Many rundown buildings from the British colonial era in the centre and stunning stupa-capped hills near the sea. The Burmese have been incredibly welcoming and friendly. While wandering through the streets of Mawlamine all the schoolchildren were practising their English with us.
No test today and tomorrow. At the border we were met by Christian (Titi) who is part if the organisation team in Burma. Christian is a Belgian Volkswagen mechanic and knows our classic VW team at Pat's workshop in Nivelles.
