We left Nay Pyi Taw Via the empty 20 lane boulevard in front of the Parliament buildings. Not a sole in sight in the new capital of the country. A short run took us to the regularity test which reminded us of the tracks in Morocco. It was a bumpy ride which we enjoyed, the Karmann Ghia is going really well on gravel. Our time was good. To reach Inke Lake we drove through a very mountenous region with steep climbs.
We are still driving without a Temperature gauge. The gauge got us to late in Chiang Mai to be be installed. Air cooled cars can be subject to overheating and we are trying to drive in a "cooling" kind of way. We lost no torque in the mountains which we think tells us that the oil temperature was ok.
Inle Lake is like is like a trip to different world. Floating gardens line the shores and beautiful wooden houses built on wood poles form little villages on the lake. The fishermen have developped a distinctive rowing style - standing at the stern on one leg with the other wrapped around the bar.
Rally results: We managed to hold on to our position. 3rd in class, 8th overall.
